Work-life balance coaching in Bristol and online across the UK
Create clearer boundaries and more space for what matters.
Work-life balance is not about creating a perfect 50/50 split or shutting people out. It is about making more intentional choices about your time, energy and priorities.
If you are constantly available, saying yes when you want to say no or feeling as though work and other people's needs are taking over, coaching can help you understand the patterns underneath that and start setting boundaries that feel clear, kind and realistic.

Are you always making time for everyone else, but rarely for yourself? Are work and other people’s needs taking up all your time and energy?
You might recognise yourself here:
You say yes automatically, then feel resentful or overwhelmed afterwards.
Work regularly spills into evenings, weekends or family time.
You feel responsible for keeping everything moving, at work or at home.
You worry that saying no will make you seem rude, selfish, difficult or less committed.
You are permanently “on” and find it hard to switch off.
You keep telling yourself work is only busy at the moment, but the same pattern keeps coming back.
You know something needs to change, but you are not sure whether the problem is your job, your boundaries or both.
Poor boundaries are not always the result of bad intentions. They can come from wanting to do a good job, support other people, be a great parent, succeed or be dependable. The question is whether those good intentions are repeatedly coming at your own expense.
What are you saying yes to – and what is it costing you?
WHAT WORK-LIFE BALANCE COACHING CAN HELP WITH
Work-life balance coaching can help you make more intentional choices
Difficulty saying no
If saying no brings guilt, worry or a fear of disappointing people, we can explore what is underneath that response and find language that feels clear without becoming harsh or confrontational.
Work taking over your personal life
Long hours are not automatically a problem. The bigger question is whether they are a conscious choice for a particular period or a pattern that has gradually become your default.
People pleasing and putting yourself last
If other people's needs consistently receive a yes while your own needs are pushed to the bottom of the list, coaching can help you notice the cost of that pattern and decide what needs to change.
Resentment and feeling taken for granted
Resentment can be a useful signal that something important to you is being compromised. We can get curious about what the feeling is telling you rather than judging yourself for having it.
Feeling responsible for everything
Thoughts such as 'if I don't do it, nobody else will' can feel like facts. We test them. What has actually happened when you have stepped back? Have you communicated what you need? Has anybody else had the opportunity to take responsibility?
Protecting the things that matter
A boundary becomes easier to hold when it is connected to a value. Leaving work on time can feel different when it is not simply 'I should work less', but 'I am protecting this time because my family, health or relationships matter to me'.
Deciding whether you need a career change
Sometimes work-life balance improves when the boundaries around the current role change. Sometimes the role itself no longer fits. Coaching gives you space to explore both possibilities without assuming the answer in advance.

The Abigail Jane Coaching® Approach is Different
We start with awareness, not “just say no more”
Notice the pattern
Notice what receives your yes or no and how each choice leaves you feeling. Awareness gives us something real to work with.
01.
Reconnect with your values
Connect your choices with what matters. A boundary is easier to hold when you understand what it is protecting.
02.
Find clear, kind language
Find wording that feels clear and respectful, practise it, and separate the boundary from somebody else's approval.
03.
Try it, reflect and adjust
Try it, notice what happens, separate control from influence and adjust without treating pushback as failure.
04.

Your life and career coach in Bristol
I work with clients in person locally and online across the UK. l My Coaching style is warm, curious and practical and I won't simply stay at the surface of what is happening. I am interested in what is really happening underneath the presenting problem, without judging you or assuming I already know what the answer should be.
I am a Master Accredited Executive Coach with more than 20 years' experience and over 15,000 hours of coaching practice. I take a whole-person approach because work, family, relationships, energy, identity and priorities do not exist in separate boxes.
The aim is not to turn you into somebody who says no to everything. It is to help you make more conscious choices about what deserves your yes, what needs a no and what you want your time and energy to support.
Hi i'm Abi

Still have questions about work-life balance coaching?
What is work-life balance coaching?
Work-life balance coaching helps you look at how your time, energy, responsibilities and priorities are working together. We can explore boundaries, patterns, values and practical choices so that you can create a balance that feels more intentional for your life.
Is good work-life balance supposed to be 50/50?
No. Balance is personal and it can change from week to week or at different stages of life. A period of intense work is not automatically a problem if it is a conscious choice. The aim is to notice what is happening and decide whether it still works for you.
Can coaching help me set better boundaries?
Yes. We can explore where your boundaries already work, where they feel harder, what you are trying to protect and how to communicate what you need clearly and kindly. The focus is on your choices and behaviour, not controlling another person's response.
How do I say no without feeling selfish?
Feeling guilty does not automatically mean the boundary is wrong. We can explore what makes saying no difficult for you, reconnect the boundary to what matters and practise language that feels respectful and clear.
What if someone reacts badly when I set a boundary?
You can control your words, behaviour, choices and whether you hold the boundary. You may be able to influence a conversation through explanation and collaboration, but you cannot control whether somebody agrees or feels disappointed. Coaching can help you separate those things.
How do I know if I need a new job or better boundaries?
You do not need to decide that before coaching starts. We can explore what is actually not working in your current situation. Sometimes different boundaries or working patterns change the experience of the role. Sometimes the career itself no longer fits. Both are valid outcomes to explore.
Is boundaries coaching the same as therapy?
No. Coaching can explore patterns, values, communication and future choices, but it is not treatment for trauma or mental health conditions. If therapeutic or clinical support would be more appropriate, that should sit with a suitably qualified professional.
Do you offer work-life balance coaching online?
Yes. Coaching is available online across the UK, with in-person coaching also available for locally based clients.
